Putting Kids First: Gallia County’s $23.3 million investment in children’s health

The Buckeye Hills Career Center recently announced $10.5 million grant for a new Community Innovation Center is the latest in a string of children’s health investments by Gallia County entities.

In addition to the investment in the Community Innovation Center at Buckeye Hills, significant funds have recently been allocated to Gallia County’s two public school districts to improve student health services. The Gallia County Local School District has been awarded a $2.8 million grant, while the Gallipolis City School District will receive a $2.6 million grant, both designated for the construction of school-based health clinics, which will address a variety of student health needs at South Gallia Middle/High School and Gallia Academy High School.

On top of that, Gallia County’s largest employer, Holzer Health System, received a $7.4 million grant to establish a childcare center at its headquarters campus in Gallipolis. The new facility will provide vital childcare services to Holzer employees, supporting working families and ensuring that children receive quality care and early education.

Altogether, these investments represent a nearly $23.3 million commitment to enhancing children's healthcare and support services in Gallia County. The funding will not only support the development of new facilities and programs, but will also improve access to critical health and childcare services for students and families. This comprehensive approach is expected to have a lasting positive impact on the community's health, educational outcomes, and overall well-being.

The combined efforts of the Buckeye Hills Career Center, local school districts, and Holzer Health System underscore a significant step forward in prioritizing healthcare, education, and childcare in Gallia County — it’s what makes our community the best community to raise a family.
