Early Childhood Education and Daycare

Gallia County boasts a number of child care centers, offering programs for various budgets and preferences​​. These centers focus on creating nurturing and educational environments for children to develop holistically. For example, French City Academy in Gallipolis emphasizes a play-based, child-centered curriculum​​, while Gallia County Early Childhood and Family Center caters to infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities​​. Primary and Secondary Education

Gallia County has two public school districts: Gallia County Local School District and Gallipolis City School District.

  • Gallia County Local School District includes various townships and incorporates three villages: Centerville, Cheshire, and Vinton​​. The district comprises two high schools, (River Valley High School and South Gallia High School) two middle schools, (River Valley Middle School and South Gallia Middle School), and four elementary schools (Addaville, Hannan Trace, Southwestern, and Vinton Elementary Schools)​​.   • Additionally, Gallipolis City School District, based in Gallipolis, serves areas including Clay, Gallipolis, and Green townships. Private School Education

We’re also home to a private, Christian school, Ohio Valley Christian School (OVCS). OVCS is a non-denominational ministry of First Baptist Church and currently serves students from five counties, representing 36 different churches. Higher Education and Vocational Training

For higher education, the University of Rio Grande & Rio Grande Community College (URG/RGCC) stands out as a unique partnership between a public community college and a four-year university. With more than 2,000 students from 20 states and 14 countries, it offers a 16:1 student-faculty ratio and over 70 academic programs​​. Learn more
